Richelle M. Nichols
Richelle Nichols joined our Firm’s partnership in 2021 and is currently a Partner in the Litigation Department. She specializes in civil, corporate and commercial litigation and labour and employment law. Among her many talents, Richelle also oversees the firm’s personal injury and insurance portfolio.
Richelle graduated from the University of the West Indies Cave Hill with an LL.B. (Hons.) degree in 2007. In 2009 she obtained her Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh Wooding Law School of the Council of Legal Education in Trinidad & Tobago and was called to the Bar in Barbados that same year. She also joined our Firm that same year.
Richelle also holds certifications in Alternative Dispute Resolution (2011), Personal Injury (2017), Cross-Border Dispute Resolution (2019) and Sports Law (2019), as well as a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of the West Indies (2020).
As the partner overseeing the Firm’s personal injury and insurance portfolio, Richelle has litigated and negotiated numerous high profile personal injury matters on behalf of both Claimants and Insurance Companies; including medical negligence claims, the famous Joe’s River Accident and declarations on the validity of insurance policies. She is also regularly invited to address professional associations on this area.
Richelle’s experience is however not limited to the area of personal injury and insurance. She has also been involved in a number of major commercial litigation matters for both domestic and international clients. Such matters include shareholder oppression, immunity of international organizations, enforcement of securities and receiverships. Richelle is also called to the Bar in St. Lucia.
