Rene A. Butcher

Rene Butcher is a Senior Associate in our Litigation Department.

Rene regularly advises a range of corporate and institutional clients on matters ranging from utility regulation to insolvency and civil recovery actions. He frequently appears before the High Court (Commercial Division) both on his own and as part of a large team, including during large-scale insolvency and regulatory matters. Additionally, he acts in various winding up proceedings and other disputes involving the financial services sector throughout Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean.

Prior to joining our Firm, Rene practised as a barrister, appearing before the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court and in particular, the Commercial Court in the British Virgin Islands. Rene also advised financial institutions and regulatory agencies on corporate finance and payment system regulation.

Away from the firm, Rene is actively engaged in public and private service. He has served as Chairman and Deputy Chairman on various public sector boards. He also served as President of his local Rotary Club.
