Sabrina L. Maynard
Sabrina Maynard is a Partner and Head of the Commercial Department, with over twenty years of professional experience. Sabrina began her professional career as an accountant and worked as an auditor with the firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers, Barbados and later with Deloitte Barbados, where she gained extensive knowledge of the financial services, insurance and offshore business sectors before transitioning into the legal profession.
As a result of her accounting background, Sabrina brings a diverse wealth of professional experience and expertise to her practice of law. She advises major local, regional and international organisations, including local and international banks and financial institutions, and high net worth individuals, on a range of corporate and commercial matters including syndicated financing transactions, mergers and acquisitions, the structuring of cross-border reorganisations, trusts, tax and regulatory matters. She also routinely conducts training sessions for clients on a range of commercial issues that fall under her areas of expertise including matters related to banking, tax and pensions.
Sabrina holds a Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad & Tobago and LL.B. (Hons.) from The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus in 2007. She is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Sabrina is also a qualified chartered secretary, a trust and estate practitioner (TEP) and a certified mediator who is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. In addition, she holds an Advanced Certificate in International Tax Planning from the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation. Sabrina’s academic pursuits reflect her commitment to continuous learning and professional development, which permits her to bring a muti-disciplined approach to the understanding of our clients’ businesses and to tailor solutions which reflect our clients’ commercial realties whilst addressing their legal issues and needs. This makes her invaluable in delivering to her clients well-assessed commercial advice backed by sound legal reasoning.
Sabrina is guided by the view that her professional responsibility not only encompasses providing sound, comprehensive legal advice but it also requires that she gives back to the organizations and community that have been instrumental in her development. In this regard, Sabrina serves as a member of the Legislation Committee and the By-Law Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados. In addition, she serves as a director and the Treasurer of the Barbados International Business Association, a notforprofit private sector organisation whose mission is to advance and promote the sustainability of global business conducted in and from Barbados. Her commitment to her community and volunteerism also extends to her being an active member of Soroptimist International of Barbados, a notforprofit organisation whose work is dedicated towards improving the lives of women and girls.
Sabrina believes that a strong body is the fuel for sustaining a healthy mind. Consequently, in her spare time Sabrina enjoys practising calisthenics and yoga.
